Senate OKs bill imposing 20% student fare discount

The Senate on Wednesday approved on final reading the bill which seeks to impose a 20 percent student fare discount on various modes of public transport.

According to a report on Saksi, the bill provides that aside from buses, jeepneys, and tricycles, students in the country may also avail of the 20 percent discount on fares in transport network vehicle services, shuttle services, LRT, MRT, PNR, and domestic flights.

The students just have to present their school IDs and other pertinent documents that will serve as proof of their enrollment.

The bill will be enacted into law once signed by President Rodrigo Duterte. — Dona Magsino/BAP, GMA News
