Sara Duterte to decide presidential run by 2021

VIGAN, Ilocos Sur — Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte will decide on whether she will go for a presidential run in 2022 by January 2021.

On Monday, Mayor Sara, the daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte, said running for president is a decision that requires a lot of thought.

"Depende sa circumstances, siguro gumawa na lang tayo ng deadline na January 2021," Mayor Sara told reporters during a Hugpong ng Pagbabago campaign stop here.

"'Yung pagtakbo [para] presidente, it is not a decision made overnight. You need money, machinery. At pinaka-importante sa lahat yung wisdom at guidance ng Diyos. Magiging mahirap 'yan kung hindi para sa 'yo. Magiging madali yan kung intended ng Diyos para sa 'yo," she added.

The feisty Davao Mayor, however, is not preoccupying herself with presidential run thoughts and appealed to supporters to do the same, including Palace spokesperson Sal Panelo.

"I wish they would not talk to me like that. Kasi 'yung mga gusto mag-president, gagawin na nila akong number 1 sa hate list nila," she said.

"Ang ginagawa ko lang naman, tumutulong sa Presidente, na fortunately, tatay ko. Tinutulungan ko lang siya to get thru the final three years of his administration," she added, referring to her regional party Hugpong's efforts of campaigning for 13 Senate bets for the May polls. — RSJ, GMA News
