Senatorial bets under the "Otso Diretso" opposition coalition went on individual campaign on Tuesday a day after the Hugpong ng Pagbabago slate skipped the debate challenge they issued.

Magdalo party-list Representative Gary Alejano, for one, went around Balanti and Marikina Markets in Marikina City earlier in the day to introduce himself to vendors and market goers.

Meanwhile, Senator Paolo Benigno "Bam" Aquino IV traveled to Pampanga and Bulacan to meet and hold a dialogue with students there.

Aquino also visited Becuran Elementary School with local officials of Sta. Rita, Pampanga and stopped by Sta. Rita College and Mary the Queen College in the town.

In the afternoon, Aquino led the Libreng Kolehiyo Caravan at Polytechnic of Malolos gymnasium and at Pambayang Dalubhasaan ng Marilao atrium.

Aquino is pushing for education and employment for all in his campaign, being one of the main proponents of the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act which provides free tuition fees for college students.

Human rights lawyer Chel Diokno, on the other hand, attended the Ka Pepe Diokno Human Rights Awards held at the De La Salle University (DLSU) in Manila.

Diokno, who himself is the founding dean of the DLSU College of Law, delivered a message to the audience on behalf of his family.

Vice President Leni Robredo also attended and gave her remarks during the event.

"Otso Diretso" candidates will continue with their individual campaigning on Wednesday, with former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas going to Pampanga and Aquino bound for Iloilo.

Diokno, former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay, and election lawyer Romulo Macalintal, meanwhile, will hold a dialogue with the communities in Baseco compound in Tondo, Manila, the area where Hilbay was raised.

Marawi civic leader Samira Gutoc will join them in a press conference after. — BM, GMA News
