Palace bares names of Bangsamoro Transition Authority members
Malacañang on Wednesday released the appointment papers of members of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) who took over the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
President Rodrigo Duterte signed the appointment papers on February 22, the day the BTA members took their oath of office in the Palace.
The BTA is headed by interim chief minister Murad Ebrahim, the chairman of Moro Islamic Liberation Front whose peace agreement with the government in 2014 became the basis for the crafting of the Bangsamoro Organic Law which created the transition body.
The BTA will govern the new Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), which replaces the ARMM, until elections in 2022.
Under the law, the body should be composed of 80 members but the Palace has so far released 76 names.

Recently, the Yusuf Jikiri-faction of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) complained that the MNLF was only five seats in the BTA.
Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Carlito Galvez Jr., however, said the MNLF had “equitable representation” in the BTA.
Galvez said on Monday that bringing about necessary reforms to the BARMM depended “not on the number of representatives per sector or grouping but on the effectiveness, efficiency and sincerity” of each BTA member.
“The BTA represents not just the MILF and MNLF but the entirety of the Moro and non-Moro people,” Galvez said.
