Duterte reappoints Andanar’s dad as special envoy to Malaysia


President Rodrigo Duterte has renewed the appointment of former Interior Undersecretary Wencelito Andanar as the chief executive’s special envoy to Malaysia, documents released by Malacañang on Thursday showed.

Andanar, father of Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar, was appointed to a one-year term that started on February 10, 2019 and will end on February 9, 2020.

The older Andanar has been holding the post since August last year.

The President kept Fernando Borja, William Lima, Cheng Yong, Carlos Chan and Wallie Lee as his special envoys to China.

Also reappointed were special envoy to Australia Miguel Ayala and special envoy for global health initiatives Susan Mercado.

Duterte also appointed Jose Ernesto Gaviola as undersecretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Gaviola is currently a director at the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples.  —LDF, GMA News
