Amid Imee’s questioned degrees, Sara says, ‘Everybody lies’

Everybody lies.

Thus, said Hugpong ng Pagbabago campaign manager Sara Duterte amid persistent questions as regards senatorial candidate Imee Marcos' degrees from Princeton University and the University of the Philippines College of Law.

The daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte accused opposition senatorial candidates of spreading lies about the administration bets to boost their stock in the coming elections.

“Tulad ni Alejano, nagsisingungaling. Wala naman siyang proof na galing sa public funds ang t-shirt. Anong gagawin natin sa kanila? They deliberately say false statements on stage against the administration of President Duterte,” Sara said.

“They say this is not about a college degree but honesty. Lahat sila sinungaling rin. Lahat ng tao rito sa mundo, sinungaling,” she added.

It has been weeks since US-based Princeton and UP both denied having records of the late dictator's daughter graduating from their respective institutions.

Imee has yet to respond to the denials except to indicate that such questions were the product of political mudslinging.

Magdalo party-list Representative Gary Alejano earlier this week claimed that taxpayers' money funded the t-shirts given away during the Liga ng mga Barangay assembly last week.

The shirts reportedly bore HNP candidate Bong Go's name.

Sara also defended HNP bet Senator Sonny Angara over criticisms made by Otso Diretso Senate candidates Erin Tañada and Romulo Macalintal over Angara’s vote on Tax Reform Inclusion and Acceleration (TRAIN) law which hiked fuel taxes and removed income tax dues for those earning P250,000 or less in a year.

“Inaatake nila ang TRAIN law, ang dami nilang sinasabi about the administration which are untrue. That also reflects on their honesty and credibility,” Sara said.

Aside from Angara, other re-electionists who voted for the TRAIN law passage include: Nancy Binay, JV Ejercito, Grace Poe, Cynthia Villar and Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel.

Of these six, only Binay and Poe are not part of the Hugpong slate. —NB, GMA News
