Duterte gov't satisfaction rating up 16 points in Q4 2018 – SWS


Net satisfaction with the general performance of President Rodrigo Duterte's government rose 16 points to +66, classified as "very good", during 2018's fourth quarter, a Social Weather Stations poll found.

In the poll, 76 percent said they were satisfied with the government's performance, 15 percent were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied, and nine percent were dissatisfied. Percent satisfied minus the dissatisfied percentage gave the government a +66 score.

The SWS  rates a score of +70 and above as “excellent”, +50 to +69 was “very good”, +30 to +49 was “good”, +10 to +29 was “moderate”, +9 to –9 was “neutral”, –10 to –29 was “poor”, –30 to –49 qA “bad”, –50 to –69 was “very bad”, and  –70 and below, “execrable”.

During 2018's third quarter, 65 percent were satisfied with the Duterte Government and 15 percent were dissatisfied, for a similar net rating of a "very good" +50.

Geographically; urban, rural areas

The Duterte Administration’s net satisfaction rating rose by one rating level in all areas of  the country.

It rose eight points from a "very good" +67 during 2018's third quarter to an "excellent" +75 in the fourth in Mindanao.

It rose 21 points in the Visayas, from a "good" +42 in the third quarter to a "very good" +63 in the fourth quarter.

In Metro Manila, it rose 20 points rose from a "good" +40 to a "very good" +60.

It also rose from "good" to "very good" in Balance Luzon, up 17 points from a +48 in the third quarter  to a +65 in the fourth.

Meanwhile, net satisfaction with the national government rose 23 points in urban areas, improving to a "very good"  +68 during 2018's fourth quarter from a "good" +45 in the third quarter.

In rural areas, net satisfaction remained "very good" despite an 11 point gain from +54 in the third quarter to a +65 in the fourth.

Social classes; age groups

Meanwhile, net satisfaction with the national government rose two rating levels in both social classes ABC and E.

Among Class ABC, government satisfaction rose 25 points from a "good" +47 in the third quarter to an "excellent" +72 during 2018's fourth quarter..

Among Class E, satisfaction with the government's performance rose 21 points, rising to a an "excellent" +70 in the fourth quarter from a "good" +49 in the third quarter.

Satisfaction remained in "very good" territory in class D, despite the 15 point gain from +50 in the third quarter to +65 in the fourth.

By socio-demographics, satisfaction with the government rose from a "very good" +53 to an "excellent" +71 among 25-34 year olds.

It was also up among 55-years-old and above, from a "good" +47 to a "very good" +63 during 2018's fourth quarter.

Finally, satisfaction with the Duterte Government was up among college graduates rising to an  "excellent" +73 during 2018 fourth quarter from a "very good" +52.

The fourth quarter-2018 national government satisfaction poll was taken from December 16-19, 2018 using face-to-face interviews of 1,440 subjects. The poll had sampling error margins of ±2.6 percent for national percentages, and ±5 percent each for Balance Luzon, Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao. — DVM, GMA News
