Duterte encourages Filipinos to uphold what is good, just


President Rodrigo Duterte on Good Friday urged Filipinos to strive in upholding what is "good and just" during the Lenten season.

In his message, the Chief Executive said he joins all Filipino Christians throughout the nation and in other parts of the world in the observance of Holy Week.

"May this blessed occasion be an opportunity for prayer and reflection as we strive to uphold what is good and just," Duterte said in his message.

"Let the spirit of commemoration inspire us to rekindle our commitment to serve our people, especially those who are most in need," he added.

Duterte acknowledged that the Filipinos' strong faith in God has contributed to "our resiliency as a nation," especially during difficult times.

Duterte noted that with the virtues of faith, hope and charity would continue to drive all efforts in nation-building.

"With guidance from Christ's sacrifice, let us work towards the attainment of our noble aspirations for the nation," Duterte said. —Anna Felicia Bajo/LBG, GMA News
