Fewer Pinoys experienced hunger in Q1 of 2019 —SWS survey

Fewer Filipinos felt hunger in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2018,  a recent Social Weather Stations shows.

According to the survey, 9.5 % or an estimated 2.3 million families said they experienced involuntary hunger at least once in the past three months.

Hunger refers to involuntary suffering since the survey question specifies that the hunger experienced was due to lack of food to eat, SWS said.

The 9.5 % hunger rate for the first quarter of 2019 is one point lower than the 10.5%  hunger rate (estimated 2.4 million families) reported last year of the same period.

Of the 9.5 %, 8.1% or 2 million families said they experienced moderate hunger while the 1.3% or 327,000 families said they experienced severe hunger. —Joviland Rita/LBG, GMA News
