Duterte back home from Belt and Road forum, bilateral meetings in Beijing

President Rordigo Duterte has arrived in his hometown Davao City after attending the Belt and Road economic forum and meeting Chinese leaders for bilateral talks over the past few days in Beijing.

According to Cyril Chaves of Super Radyo dzBB in Davao City, Duterte arrived after 12 midnight on Sunday.

Duterte on Saturday told world leaders at the economic forum that the Philippines was working to improve ways to manage and protect its marine resources.

He made the remark during his intervention at a leaders' roundtable meeting focused on promoting green and sustainable development aligned with the UN 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development.

Duterte met Chinese President Xi Jinping in bilateral talks on Friday when he raised the arbitral ruling that invalidated China's historic claims over most of the South China Sea including features under the Philippines' exclusive economic zone.

Suspected vessels of Chinese militia have been reported recently to have massed up in waters off Pag-asa and other Philippine-held islands in the Spratlys—a move that Malacañang called an assault on Philippine sovereignty. NB, GMA News
