Army recruitment website hacked, spox says

A Philippine Army website was hacked on Tuesday, spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Ramon Zagala confirmed.

According to Zagala, the jointhearmy.ph, a website developed by a third party proponent intended for individuals who wish to volunteer in the Army, was hacked by the group calling itself "Pinoy Lulszec" this morning.

Zagala said the hacker group "effectively curtailed the dreams and aspirations of many young men and women as they take the first steps in joining the noble profession of arms."

The military official, however, said there is no proof that the Pinoy Lulszec's action compromised important data as the said website is not part of the Philippine Army Network.

Meanwhile, Zagala said the Army's Network Enterprise Technology Battalion is already coordinating with the creators of the website to determine what actions must be taken following the incident.

Earlier this month, the website of the Philippine Army's school was also reported to have been hacked by the Pinoy Lulszec.

Zagala said the hackers accessed old and unclassified data, particularly the list of those who had joined the Army's Scout Ranger Force from 1950 to 2014. — MDM, GMA News
