Lacson says he has one requirement before agreeing to seek presidency again

More pragmatic now, Senator Panfilo Lacson said Thursday he would only agree to run in the 2022 presidential polls if he has a clear chance of winning.

Lacson said he is not closing his doors in seeking the presidency again but that requirement should be present.

“When people talk to me about the possibility of running in 2022, ang balik ko sa kanila, I have only one requirement. I’m not closing the doors but I have only one requirement. Give me a clear chance of winning,” he said in an interview on ANC television.

He said he got the taste of the presidential campaign when he ran in 2004 but lost to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

“Let’s put it this way. I’ve been there. In 2004, I ran. And in 2016, I attempted to try my luck also but I did not proceed anymore because medyo mababa ang numbers,” he said.

He said he has become more practical as he gain more experience in politics.

“I’ve become more pragmatic. After all these years in politics as a senator: I won three times, I lost one presidential campaign. You become more practical, you become honed, sa experience mo. So ‘yan lagi ang sinasagot ko. If you are encouraging or urging me to run, I have only one requirement. Show me I have a clear chance of winning,” he added. — Amita Legaspi/RSJ, GMA News
