Villar on seeking higher posts: It's a gift from God

Reelectionist Senator Cynthia Villar, presently the front-runner of the 2019 senatorial race, is not closing her doors to possible higher public posts.

But when asked the question during an interview on State of the Nation with Jessica Soho on Tuesday, she remarked that a post higher than that of a senator would be "a gift from God."

"Palagi ko pong sinasabi, and I truly believe it, that you work hard to become a senator. Makukuha yun sa sipag at tiyaga, pero yung higher position, I think, it's a gift from God. So hindi mo na dapat hangarin pa 'yun. Kung sayo 'yon, sayo 'yon," she said.

When asked about the post of Senate President in particular, Villar said she would prefer to serve as senator through some of her preferred committees.

"I want to go back to the committee on agriculture and food na pinaghahawakan ko dati, at committee on environment and natural resources. Those are really my advocacies and I'm very proud of my work there and I'm very happy," she said. —Margaret Claire Layug/LDF, GMA News
