'WHAT AM I APOLOGIZING FOR?'

Imee not keen on apologizing to schools where she claimed to have graduated from

Senator-elect Imee Marcos on Thursday reiterated that the matter of her educational background should be put aside now that the election is over.

Interviewed on ANC, Marcos maintained that she had a degree from the University of the Philippines College of Law.

"I've answered it before ang sinabi ko nga na as far as I know, ito 'yung ginawa ko, marami akong kaklase sa UP College of Law," she said.

"Ang pagkaintindi namin nag-graduate kami so sana isantabi na 'yan, tigilan na 'yang mga 'yan at deretso na tayo sa trabaho."

The daughter of the late President Ferdinand Marcos had previously claimed that she graduated cum laude at UP College of Law.

Marcos' claim regarding her educational background was one of the issues hurled against her during the campaign season. School officials have accused her of falsely claiming to be a cum laude graduate at the UP College of Law; valedictorian at the Santa Catalina School in California; and an MA holder.

"Tapos na ang kampanya dapat isantabi na 'yang mga bakbakan na 'yan, mga pasaring. Let's focus on work, there are so many things need to be done," she said.

When asked if she would apologize to the schools where she said she graduated from, among them Princeton University, Marcos said, "What am I apologizing for? I'm still getting alumni letters and I keep receiving these invites."

"I'm confused. What I'm supposed to apologize for," she said.

Marcos then asked the public to give her a chance and finally move forward from the issues about her educational background. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
