Imee bares 'move' to install Cynthia Villar as Senate President

Senator-elect Imee Marcos on Thursday said there is a move to install reelected Senator Cynthia Villar as head of the Senate in the 18th Congress.

"I heard there was some lobbying for Cynthia Villar to step in... Sa ngayon it's clearly Senate President Sotto pero I've heard sina Francis Tolentino daw, there's some kind of move to push [for] Senator Cynthia," Marcos said in an interview on ANC.

Marcos said she would support Villar, who was consistent in the Number 1 spot in the May 13 elections. Both are under the Nacionalista Party.

"Palagay ko stick to your party eh, more importantly stick to Senator Cynthia," Marcos said.

Earlier reports said 20 senators are expected to back Sotto as Senate President.

Senate Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto has said he sees no change in the leadership of the Senate in the 18th Congress.
