Advincula now under police protective custody —CIDG chief

Peter Joemel Advincula, the man who claimed to be Bikoy in the series of anti-Duterte videos, is now under police protective custody, according to Police Major General Amador Corpus on Monday.

At a press briefing in Camp Crame, Corpus, director of the Criminal and Investigation Group (CIDG), said Advincula, who has since retracted his statements against the Duterte family, went back to the police last week even after he posted bail.

"Last Monday, May 27, bumalik na si Bikoy. He is now under protective custody. He voluntarily surrendered himself and requested for protective custody," Corpus said.

"He is now under investigation."

Advincula, a subject of a warrant of arrest for estafa and illegal recruitment, surrendered to the police last month and was set free on May 25 after posting bail.

Corpus said Advincula's accusation that the political opposition is behind the anti-Duterte videos is being "investigated."

"Validation is ongoing dun sa mga allegations niya, including yung pieces of evidence na isa-submit niya," he said.

Advincula claimed it was outgoing Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, with the help of the Liberal Party, who hired him to make the accusation that several personalities close to President Rodrigo Duterte are involved in the illegal drug trade.

Trillanes and the LP have denied Advincula's claims.

"We are trying to validate and dino-document po natin lahat... yung mga dala po niyang ebidensiya to prove his allegations," Corpus said.

He said Advincula's mobile phone that showed his exchange of messages with Trillanes' security aide is already with the police anti-crime group.

Corpus also said they have requested for CCTV footage of the alleged meeting between Advincula and some of the opposition's senatorial candidates in the May 13 elections. —KBK, GMA News
