Drug suspects killed in police ops at 6,600 as of May 2019 —PNP

The death toll in the present administration's war against drugs and criminality was at 6,600 as of end of May this year, a police official said Wednesday.

Quoting Police Major General Mao Aplasca, PNP Directorate for Operations chief, Super Radyo dzBB reported that the 6,600 deaths were cases of those who resisted arrest and shot it out with police operatives or the "nanlaban" incidents.

Aplaca said that the record covers "nanlaban" deaths from July 1, 2016 to May 31, 2019.

Also he said that since the campaign began in 2016, cops have already arrested 240,000 drug pushers and addicts; and 1,200,000 more who voluntarily surrendered under the PNP's "Double Barrel" program Oplan Tokhang. —LBG, GMA News
