Senate minority bloc satisfied with committee assignments – Drilon

Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon said Monday the opposition senators are satisfied with their committees assignments.

“What I can just say is, without going to specifics, we have come to broad agreements on the treatment of the minority senators,” Drilon told reporters.

“It will not be an issue. I repeat that the matter of the committees for the minority has been satisfactorily resolved.”

He, however, refused to name the committees that would be headed by members of the minority bloc.

“I will let the Senate President (Vicente Sotto III), out of respect to him, do the announcement insofar as the committee assignments are concerned, because committee chairs are chosen by the majority, so I would defer to the Senate President,” he said.

Based on initial information, Senator Risa Hontiveros would give up the Committee on Women and will instead head the Committee on Cooperatives.
