Most of food poisoning victims during Imelda birthday bash already discharged from hospitals —official

Some victims of the food poisoning that marred Wednesday's birthday party of former First Lady Imelda Marcos in Pasig City remained confined in hospitals on Thursday, a city disaster official said.

Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV, Bryant Wong, city disaster risk reduction and management officer of Pasig, said majority of those rushed to hospitals have already been discharged.

"Karamihan na-discharge na, as per reported sa ating command center, pero may mga naiwan pa sa ibang hospital," he said.

Wong, however, could not say how many of those who were still in hospitals were in critical condition.

"Hindi po natin masasabing seryoso o hindi kasi ospital na po ang makapagsasabi nun, sa ER po," he said.

Wong said a total of 270 persons were brought to various hospitals in and outside Pasig due to food poisoning blamed on contaminated packed breakfast served during Mrs. Marcos' 90th birthday party at Ynares Sports Arena.

More or less 50 ambulances both from the private and public sector went to the scene to bring the affected attendees to various hospitals in Pasig, Mandaluyong and Quezon cities.

The organizer of the event has already pledged to shoulder all the hospital expenses of the victims, Wong said.  —KBK, GMA News
