Ladlad's wife asks gov't: Let my husband undergo medical treatment

National Democratic Front of the Philippines consultant Vicente Ladlad's wife is appealing to the government to allow her detained husband to seek medical treatment at a hospital in Makati City.

"Ako ay nananawagan sa gobyerno... sa Friday, magkakaroon ng hearing sa RTC Branch 32... ang abogado namin na si Chel Diokno ay nagsampa ng motion for medical treatment para kay Vic kasi siya ay laging nagkakasakit ngayon," Fides Lim-Ladlad said on the sidelines of a protest action in Camp Crame.

"Ang panawagan ko ay simple lang. Bigyan siya, hayaan siya, allow him to seek medical examination in Makati Medical Center where his doctors are regularly attending... I am not even demanding that he'd be released. I'm just seeking medical treatment," Lim-Ladlad added.

According to Fides, the NDFP consultant has "chronic asthma" which, according to her, may degenerate to emphysema.

The NDFP peace consultant was arrested in November 2018 for illegal possession of firearms. Operatives allegedly seized M-16, AK-74 rifles, and hand grenades from Ladlad.

Fides has accused arresting officers of planting evidence against her husband, and preventing her from seeing him.

Ladlad is presently detained at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City. —LBG, GMA News
