UPCAT to be held Oct. 5 and 6; applications accepted starting July 16


The University of the Philippines said on Friday it will start accepting applicants for its college entrance examination on July 16, Tuesday.

It added that the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT) will be held on October 5 and 6, 2019.

The UPCAT will be for those entering college in 2020.

Applications will be received by the Office of Admissions until the following deadlines:

  • August 2: regional public high school
  • August 9: regional private high school
  • August 16: Metro Manila public high school
  • August 23: Metro Manila private high school

UP said applications received after the August 23 deadline will be processed only if there are still test permits available.

Those qualified to take the UPCAT are:
1. senior high school students expecting to graduate before SY 2020-2021 from a Department of Education-accredited high school or an accredited secondary school abroad; or

2. graduate of a DepEd-accredited high school or accredited secondary school abroad; and

3. must have final grades for three (3) high school years preceding the year of graduation;

4. must not have taken any college subject/s prior to taking the UPCAT; and

5. must not have taken the UPCAT before

The university clarified that there is no minimum high school average grade required of UPCAT applicants.
