3-year-old Myca Ulpina died of ‘brain injury’ — PNP autopsy

Myca Ulpina, the little girl who was shot dead during a buy-bust operation in Rodriguez, Rizal last month, died of a brain injury, according to a police autopsy.

Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory director Brigadier General Rolando Hinanay confirmed to GMA News Online on Tuesday night that the three-year-old's cause of death was a "brain injury secondary to penetrating gunshot wound."

Ulpina was killed on June 29 during a buy-bust operation by Rodriguez police that supposedly targeted her father, Renato Dolofrina.

Police claimed that the suspect used his daughter as a human shield, but the victim’s family and a witness denied this.

Senator and former PNP chief Ronald Dela Rosa later had to issue an apology after saying of Ulpina's death that "shit happens" during police operations. — BM, GMA News
