BOC launches text hotline 8484 for reporting irregularities, corrupt officials

The Bureau of Customs' Intelligence Group has launched a text hotline to which the public may report corrupt practices involving its officials and employees.

By sending a text message to 8484, the public can directly report any BOC officials, employees, brokers, importers, and fixers they believe are involved in smuggling, bribery, illegal drugs and other illegal activities , the bureau said in a statement on Tuesday.

The BOC added that people reporting Customs irregularities should text 8484 the "who, what, when, where, why and how" of the incident in question.

The BOC said that the reports will be handled with confidentiality and processed immediately.
