Palace to riding public: Give MMDA a chance to solve EDSA traffic woes

Malacañang on Tuesday appealed to the riding public to give the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) a chance amid criticism of the agency’s policies to address traffic congestion in the capital region.

The MMDA has been criticized for its strict enforcement of the yellow lane policy and its plan to ban provincial buses from areas along EDSA, Metro Manila’s main thoroughfare.

“Hindi naman pupuwede rin na hindi maapektuhan ang publiko ang mga nag-eeksperimento ka. Let’s give them a chance,” presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said at a news conference.

“Alam ninyo iyang problema sa EDSA marami nang taon iyan eh. Walang administrasyong naka-solve niyan. And they are precisely trying to do something about it.”

Panelo also said the government was open to suggestions on how to improve the traffic situation in Metro Manila.

“Basta lahat ng pupuwedeng mungkahi na makakatulong sa traffic problem eh subukan natin,” he said.
