Duterte anti-corruption unit asks Sandra Cam to submit evidence of PCSO anomalies

President Rodrigo Duterte’s anti-corruption unit on Wednesday asked Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) board member Sandra Cam to substantiate her claims of corruption in the agency.

PACC Commissioner Greco Belgica said he would issue a memorandum to Cam asking her to submit evidence.

“She will be allowed to submit the evidences [sic] to us, to the President, to the Ombudsman and we will welcome that. She was the first one to call out corruption in PCSO,” Belgica said at a news conference in Malacañang.

“We are interested to hear what she has to [say] to us, not to take it as the truth, but to investigate and allow it to go to through the process.”

Speaking to ANC last week, Cam said she had documents that would prove that several high-ranking officials, including retired military generals, were involved in the alleged corruption in PCSO.

Holding back tears, Cam said she was not afraid to come head-to-head with these officials even if it would cost her life.

Cam had walked out of the PCSO board's meeting on May 16, alleging that her fellow directors were pressuring her to reverse a revocation of PCSO Board Resolution 83 giving recognition to the new officers of Speedgame Inc. which operates the Small Town Lottery (STL) in Pangasinan.

On July 26, Duterte ordered a stoppage in all gaming operations of the PCSO, citing "massive corruption" in the agency.

STL, Peryahan ng Bayan and Keno operations remained suspended after Duterte ordered an investigation on the alleged corruption in the PCSO which supervises the betting schemes.

The suspension on the operation of the more popular lotto was lifted on July 30 after Malacañang found no irregularities in its operation. —KBK, GMA News
