Lorenzana wants BRP Conrado Yap to be deployed in Palawan, Sulu

If he were to be asked, Defense chief Delfin Lorenzana would prefer to deploy the BRP Conrado Yap, the Philippine Navy’s “most powerful ship,” in Palawan or in the seas of Sulu.

“Kung ako, siguro baka Palawan and the Sulu Sea,” Lorenzana told reporters on Tuesday.

“It depends on the Navy, how soon they can bring that to the South,” he added.

Aside from Lorenzana, Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff General Benjamin Madrigal Jr., and Navy chief Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad graced the welcome ceremony for BRP Conrado Yap, which was acquired from South Korea.

The Navy believes that BRP Conrado Yap, a former Pohang-class corvette, will strengthen the Navy’s capability in patrolling and safeguarding the maritime nation and territorial limits.

The vessel arrived in the country last Sunday. — MDM, GMA News
