KMU, Tambisan sa Sining prepare Duterte effigy for Nat’l Heroes Day rally

Labor organization Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) and cultural group Tambisan sa Sining will stage demonstrations on National Heroes Day to protest against contractualization and "attacks" on workers. 

“Ang gusto nating ipakita dito ay yung pagiging traydor ni Duterte sa mga manggagawa sa usapin ng contractualization at patuloy na atake sa kilusang paggawa,” KMU Secretary General Jerome Adonis said in a Sunday statement.

The groups are working on an effigy representing President Rodrigo Duterte as a demon with red horns and a forked tongue.

KMU is set to march in Metro Manila on Monday together with other labor groups and coalitions under the banner of “United Workers.”

Its chapters in different provinces across the country were also preparing to march on the same day.

"Deperado ang gobyernong ito na ipagtanggol ang interes ng mga kapitalista na kasabwat ni Duterte sa pagpapahirap sa manggagawang Pilipino,” said Adonis.

In July, Duterte vetoed the Security of Tenure or anti-endo bill that would have ended the contractualization of workers. — Joviland Rita/DVM
