Robredo: Better if PET issues decision soon as possible

Vice President Leni Robredo on Monday said it would be better for the Presidential Electoral Tribunal to issue its decision as soon as possible with regards the electoral protest filed against her by former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Gumawa ng mga haka-haka na hindi nakakatulong,” Robredo told Senate reporters, adding that she welcomes the submission of the report on the results of the ballot recount to the PET.

Robredo was at the Senate in connection with the budget presentation of the Office of the Vice President for the year 2020.

Robredo said the decision would allow her office to continue its projects without any hurdle.

Last week, Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa, the justice in charge, submitted the report on the results of the concluded recount and revision of ballots from three provinces involved in the election protest filed by Marcos.

The PET has yet to take action on it.

The ballot recount covered 5,415 election precincts in three pilot provinces chosen by Marcos: Camarines Sur, Iloilo and Negros Oriental. The results of the recount will determine whether or not the case will proceed to Marcos' remaining contested voting precincts. — RSJ, GMA News
