Satisfaction with drug war remains ‘excellent’ in Q2 2019 – SWS


Satisfaction with President Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs remained "excellent" during 2019's second quarter, a Social Weather Stations poll found.

According to the poll, 54 percent were very satisfied and 28 percent were somewhat satisfied with the war on drugs, while five percent were very dissatisfied and seven percent were somewhat dissatisfied, with six percent undecided on the matter.

This gave the war on drugs a net satisfaction rating (percent satisfied minus percent dissatisfied) of +70 which was classified as "excellent."

According to the SWS a net satisfaction ratings of +70 and above was “excellent,” +50 to +69 was “very good”, +30 to +49 was “good”, +10 to +29 was “moderate", +9 to –9 was “neutral”, –10 to –29 was in “poor” territory, –30 to –49 was “bad”, –50 to –69 was “very bad”, and  –70 and below was “execrable.” 

The drugs campaign also received a +70 during 2019's first quarter, and was rated either "excellent" to "very good" in the 11 previous polls.

The drugs war received its highest rating, an "excellent" +77, during 2016's fourth quarter.

Breakdown

Among those who were satisfied with the drug war, 40 percent said the anti-drugs campaigned had lessened the number of drug suspects, 18 percent said drug suspects were being arrested, while 13 percent said the campaign had lessened crime.

Meanwhile, eight percent said the war diminished the drug trade, while five percent said it had improved the peace and order situation.

Among those who were dissatisfied with the drugs campaign, 42 percent said that the drugs and the drug trade were still prevalent despite the campaign, 31 percent there were too many killings from the campaign, 12 percent said there was an abuse of power and bias in the campaign's operations.

Nine percent meanwhile said that there were too many wrongful arrests in the campaign, and two percent said that drug suspects were being killed in the campaign.

The second quarter 2019 SWS drugs campaign poll was taken from June 22 to June 26, 2019 using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults nationwide. the poll had sampling error margins of ±3 percent for national percentages, and ±6 percent each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao. — DVM, GMA News
