BOC sees enhanced efficiency with additional manpower

The Bureau of Customs (BOC)  is set to complete the filling-up of 1,000 plantilla positions for this year — additional manpower that the bureau said will enhance its effectiveness and efficiency.

In a statement on Wednesday, the BOC said its Human Resources Management Division (HRMD) has filled 547 plantilla positions nationwide as of September 27.

Meanwhile, 899 applicants are awaiting either deliberation or their schedule for interview.

The continuous hiring of Customs personnel aims to improve trade facilitation and provide stakeholders with a better experience, Deputy Commissioner Donato San Juan said.

Sixty-four newly hired and promoted BOC personnel also took oath on September 30.

They were reminded by Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero during the regular flag raising ceremony to "remain faithful to their sworn duty" and deliver "what is expected of them" by the public.

BOC is confident that it would fill up all plantilla positions before the end of 2019.

"With the current rate the hiring process is going, the BOC will definitely achieve its target of strengthening its manpower in order to effectively perform its mandate of securing our borders nationwide and to collect the proper revenue due government which would greatly help in the development of the country’s economy," the BOC said.
