Aquino hits back ex-PDEA chief: What did you do during your term?

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) chief Aaron Aquino on Thursday questioned Dionisio Santiago's competence and accomplishments during his four-year stint as head of the agency.

"Ano ba ang nagawa mo noong panahon mo as PDEA chief about the problem on ninja cops?" Aquino said in a statement .

According to Aquino, he had conducted a case surveillance on the alleged drug queen and discovered the identity of the ninja cops, something he claimed Santiago failed to do during his term.

Ninja cop is the term used to describe rogue cops involved in drug-recycling.

Aquino issued the statement following Santiago's remark that he should resign amidst the drug-recycling controversy.

Aquino on Thursday admitted that Philippine National Police chief Police General Oscar Albayalde called him to ask him not to implement the order against his former men who were allegedly involved in drug-recycling.

"I did not change my tune, ganun pa rin naman, except that I omitted some things," Aquino said in an ambush interview.

When asked why he did not share this knowledge earlier, Aquino said he received a call threatening his family.

"Initially talaga iniisip ko baka family ko madadamay... bata pa mga anak ko," he said. —LDF, GMA News
