DILG to start sending show cause orders to LGUs who fail in road clearing ops by next week

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) spokesperson Jonathan Malaya on Friday said the agency would start sending show cause orders to local government units, which fail to clear roads from any kinds of obstruction, by next week.

The deadline for the clearing operations was last Sunday, September 29. Validation teams were mobilized to check if all local government units comply with the order to clear roads.

The said order is in compliance with the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte for all local government units to return to public use all roads and sidewalks that have been appropriated for private ends.

DILG Undersecretary Martin Diño earlier said Duterte ordered the agency to recommend the suspension of mayors who did not conduct the clearing operations in their respective areas. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
