Philippine Army to recruit over 5,300 soldiers

The Philippine Army announced on Friday that it will be recruiting more soldiers to sustain its campaign against local armed conflict and terrorism.

According to a statement, the Army will go beyond its 5,300 quota to help the Philippine government achieve its "deadline of ending local armed conflict and terrorism" and to "expand its support of the government's nation building efforts."

“Anyone who wants to serve our people is welcome to join as long as the Philippine Army’s qualifications are met," Army spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Ramon Zagala said.

"Qualified applicants will receive the same benefits during training and when they become part of the regular force,” he added.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines targets to recruit about 25,000 troops.

“We call on the best and the brightest to take this opportunity to be part of our nation building efforts by serving the people and securing the land,” Zagala said. —Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
