Isko Moreno bans sale of used cellphones in Manila

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Monday announced the ban on the sale of used mobile phones in the city.

According to the Manila Public Information Office, Moreno will also order the closure of a mall on Recto Avenue if it is proven to be a haven for vendors of stolen gadgets.

"The threat was made after a student reported to the MPD Special Mayor's Reaction Team that he saw his mobile phone from one of the vendors inside Isetann Mall in Recto," the office said on Twitter.

The local government has yet to specify sanctions for violators of the ban.

The management of Isetann said it did not tolerate the sale of stolen items in its premises.

"Hindi binili ng tenant ng mall, pinagawa sa technician sabi babalikan may bibilhin lang. Hindi na binalikan," a mall officer said.

"Ginagawa namin lahat ng aming makakaya para di masira ang pangalan ng mall  at makasunod kami sa panuntunan ng ating mahal mayor," the officer added. —NB, GMA News
