Sandra Cam denies involvement in Batuan, Masbate vice mayor slay

Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) board member Sandra Cam on Thursday denied involvement in the ambush incident that killed Batuan, Masbate vice mayor Charlie Yuson III.

“I have nothing to do with the ambush,” Cam said in a statement.

Cam believes that she was being dragged into the incident as her son, Marco Martin Cam, lost  to the victim’s som Charmax Jan Yuson in the 2019 mayoral election in Batuan town.

“It is so unfair that our family is being dragged into this, we’ve moved on from that election,” she said.

Meanwhile, Cam expressed condolences to the grieving family of Yuson. She also called on the Manila Police District to “dig deeper into possible motives in the ambush and identify the mastermind.”

Yuson was gunned down while having breakfast in Sampaloc, Manila on Wednesday. Two others were wounded in the incident.

Police have four suspects in their custody.

Authorities also coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency to check if Yuson was included in the watchlist.

Politics is being eyed as a possible motive in the killing, police said. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
