Bong Go names 3 contenders for next PNP chief

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Friday named the three senior police officials in the shortlist for next Philippine National Police chief now being considered by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Included in the shortlist according to Go are Police Lieutenant General Francisco Archie Gamboa, Police Lieutenant General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan, and Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar.

He expressed belief the President will consider seniority and will pick someone who would unite the PNP and has the balls to cleanse the police organization.

“May shortlist, I’m sure he will respect the seniority sa pagpili ng next PNP chief,” he told reporters.

“Importante po is trust and confidence at sino po yung makakapag-unite at makakapagpatuloy sa internal cleansing diyan sa PNP.  ‘Yung chief PNP na may bayag linisin at ihiwalay ang mga bulok kahit na kasamahan nyo sa PNP, tirahin nyo basta scalawag at ninja cops,” he said.

Go said the turnover of command would most likely be done on October 29 or 10 days before the official retirement of PNP chief Police General Oscar Albayalde.

“Sa calendar ng Pangulo sa October 29 po. Kasi pupunta siya sa ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit) sa first week (ng November). Naka-schedule sya pumunta ng Bangkok, Thailand so nakaschedule na rin ang turn-over ng PNP,” he said. — RSJ, GMA News
