What will Duterte do? Albayalde fate known in coming days, says Go

President Rodrigo Duterte will decide the fate of Philippine National Police chief Oscar Albayalde in the coming days, Senator Bong Go said Friday.

Go, Duterte's longtime aide, made the remark on whether or not Albayalde will remain at the PNP's helm amid allegations that he was involved in the allegedly anomalous drug operation that resulted in the loss of 200 kilos of shabu in 2013.

“In the coming days—maybe later, maybe tomorrow, maybe Sunday,” Go told reporters when asked when Duterte would decide on whether or not to let go the PNP chief amid the controversy.

Go said the Duterte would first consult Interior Secretary Eduardo Año and Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra.

“Cabinet meeting mamayang hapon. It’s not included [in the agenda]. Maybe he will just consult,” he said.

Go said Duterte and Albayalde had yet to meet after the Senate hearings on the ninja cops controversy.

"Sa Tuesday pa ang most probable meeting nila,” Go said.

“Merong command conference sa Tuesday sa Malacanang. Du'n n'yo malalaman kung siya pa rin,” he added.

He also said that the turn over ceremony will be conducted on October 29 instead of November 8, the exact date of Albayalde's retirement.

The former presidential assistant said Duterte was reviewing the issue himself and is also eager to know the truth.

"Tignan natin 'yung ebidensya. Mismo ang Pangulo ay interesado at binabasa niya ang lahat ng resolusyon at timeline kung anong nangyari sa 2013. Alam n'ya po na ang taumbayan ay nag-aantay at interesado rin na malaman ang katotohanan,” he said.

He added the President wants to be fair to everybody regarding the issue.

"Ang Pangulo, hindi basta basta naniniwala. He wants to be fair to everybody. Kung sino ang sangkot, may ebidensya, ilabas niyo po. Kung kailangan i-dismiss, i-dismiss. Malapit na rin po ang retirement ni Gen. Albayalde. As a member of the Blue Ribbon committee sa Senado, interesado rin po ako na malaman ang katotohanan," he said.

During the Senate hearing, Baguio City Mayor and former Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief Benjamin Magalong claimed that Albayalde was lying when he denied his role in the case of alleged ninja cops. —NB, GMA News
