Indian president to visit PHL

Indian President Ram Nath Kovind will be in the country for a State Visit from October 17 to 21, 2019 to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and India.

President Rodrigo Duterte extended the invitation to the Indian leader to affirm the bilateral relations between the two nations as they commemorate the important milestone.

Duterte and Kovind will hold a bilateral meeting on 18 October 2019 to discuss areas of mutual interest, including political, economic, cultural and people-to-people engagement.

At the sidelines of the visit, Kovind is expected to meet with the members of the Indian community in the Philippines and the Filipino beneficiaries of the Mahaveer Philippine Foundation, Inc.

Kovind is the third Indian president to undertake a State Visit to the Philippines since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1949. —LDF, GMA News
