Honeylet emphasizes that Duterte in good health after motorcycle mishap

President Rodrigo Duterte was in good health after after last week's motorcycle mishap, his common-law wife Cielito "Honeylet" Avanceña said on Monday.

"He's okay. Pagbaba niya lang naiwan niya 'yung sapatos niya. Mataas kasi 'yung motor. He's okay, nothing to worry [about]," Avanceña said in a report by JP Soriano on GMA News TV's Balitanghali.

Several world leaders expressed their concern for the 74-year-old Duterte, but Foreign Affairs Secretary likewise assured them that the President was fine.

Meanwhile, Avanceña added that presidential daughter Veronica "Kitty" Duterte was also doing well after she was hospitalized earlier this month.

"Her platelet went down eh, so I'm not sure. I'm still trying to find out if it's really dengue, hindi naging conclusive talaga," she clarified.

As to her reaction over Kitty introducing a friend to the family, Honeylet said it was normal development.

"She's a teenager, she's a growing... you know. It's part of her experience ba. We've gone through it so wala akong magagawa. So, I just have to be there for her, consistent 'yung pangaral," she said.

The President had asked Kitty's new friend to respect his 14-year-old child.

"'Mahal namin ‘yan, ngayon gusto mo akong makilala, eh kilala na kita ngayon at least, madali kitang hanapin," Duterte said.

"Sabi ko, 'Just be decent, bata pa ‘yan'. Sabi ko, 'No physical. 'Wag mong hawakan maski ang kamay'," he added. — Dona Magsino/DVM, GMA News
