NDRRMC: Mindanao quake death toll rises to 17


The number of earthquake-related deaths have climbed to 17, following the magnitude 6.6 and 6.5 earthquakes which struck parts of Mindanao on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively.

In the latest National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) report, the number of fatalities in Region XI remained at three but 14 were recorded in Region XII.

The names of the casualties identified by authorities are:

Davao del Sur

  • Jessie Riel Parba (previously reported as Jesriel Pabra)
  • Benita B. Saban
  • Romulo Naraga

South Cotabato

  • Nestor Narciso
  • Marcelo Tare

Cotabato

  • Samuel Linao Andy (previously reported as Angel Andy)
  • Renee Corpuz (previously reported as Rene Boy Andy)
  • Marichelle Morla
  • Patricio Lumayon
  • Pao Zailon Abdulah
  • Isidro Gomez
  • Cesar Benjie Bangot (previously reported as Cesar Bangot)
  • Romel Galicia
  • Priscilla Varona (previously reported as Precilla Verona)
  • Juve Gabriel Jaoud (previously reported as Juve Gabriel Jauod)
  • Tessie Alacayde (previously reported as Tessie Alcayde)

According to the NDRMMC, the number injured persons was reduced to 307 from the previously reported 403, while the number of missing persons remained at two.

Residents are also experiencing power outage as 13 out of 18 local government units (LGUs) in Cotabato Province and two out of 12 LGUs in Sultan Kudarat have no power supply as of 3 p.m. on Friday, the report said.

Meawhile, a total of 23 cities, from the previously reported 21, experienced power interruptions in Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani on Tuesday. However, power supply was restored on the same day.

Meanwhile, the Metro Kidapawan Water District incurred damages that led to water interruptions in Kidapawan City while the water system in Barangay Tawan-Tawan, M'lang, and Cotabato Province was damaged and in need for repair on Thursday.

The damaged infrastructures in Regions IX, X, XI, XII, and BARMM have increased to 3,365 infrastractures from the previously reported 3,220 damaged infrastractures.
