Robredo won't back down from anti-drug op as long as she won't be a distraction

Vice President Leni Robredo on Saturday said she will not back down from joining an actual anti-drug operation as long as the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) thinks she will not be a distraction in such an operation.

Robredo made the statement when asked if she worries about her security upon accepting the challenge of PDEA chief Aaron Aquino for her to join a drug operation.

Pero kung aayain ako, pupunta ako," Robredo told reporters at the 14th Indo-Pacific Conference of the Theosophical Society in Quezon City.

I would gladly be there," she added.

Robredo met with Aquino and other members of the Inter-Agency Council on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) at the Office of the Vice President on Friday, after she accepted President Rodrigo Duterte's appointment of her as co-chairperson of the body.

The Vice President said she reiterated in her meeting with PDEA that they have to work together and set aside their differences to achieve their objective in the fight against illegal drugs. —KG, GMA News
