Lacson tells anti-drug czar VP Robredo: Watch your back

Senator Panfilo Lacson on Saturday advised Vice President Leni Robredo to "watch her back" after she took on the mantle of "anti-drug czar" as a co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).

"She should really watch her back all the time."

Robredo has accepted President Rodrigo Duterte's appointment of her as co-chairperson of the ICAD, and already met with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) chief Aaron Aquino and other ICAD members.

Duterte appointed Robredo to ICAD after she criticized his anti-illegal drug campaign due to the high number of drug suspects killed in police operations.

"Ang napasukan niya siyempre maraming character, especially ang pulis... sari-saring character 'yan," Lacson, who is a former Philippine National Police Chief, said in a phone patch interview on Saturday.

"Isang suggestion, she should develop her own people who could be trusted. It entails a lot of study in the performance of her duties. Makikita niya sino ang credible and trustworthy sa tao, mag-develop siya ng sarili niya within the law enforcement na puwede mag-provide ng intel info sa kanya o mag-observe ano kamalian sa naliligaw na landas na pulis," the senator said.

Likewise, Lacson advised the Vice President to do her job and make it known to the people.

"Do your job and make the people know how you are doing your job. Di lang ang pagganap sa trabaho, kundi ipaalam. Kasi uso ngayon mga trolls. Siyempre kung di nakakarating ang ginagawa ninyo, sabi niya wala yan, basta alam naman ninyo wala akong capability, wala siyang pondo para gumastos sa ganoon," he said. —Ted Cordero/LBG, GMA News
