Robredo to meet with US embassy execs to tackle PHL drug problem

Newly appointed anti-drug czar Vice President Leni Robredo on Saturday revealed that she would be meeting with US Embassy officials next week to discuss the country's illegal drug problem.

Robredo made the announcement at the 14th Indo-Pacific Conference of the Theosophical Society in Quezon City, a day after US Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim extended his congratulations to the vice president for her new role in government.

Apart from embassy officials, Robredo said she would be meeting with United Nations officers and multi-sectoral groups.

"Iyong sa akin lang, kailangan kong pakinggan lahat. Hindi puwedeng fini-filter iyong information, kasi gusto nating seryosohin iyong papapuntahan nito. Tingin ko mas magiging effective iyong campaign kung nararamdaman ng tao na kabahagi sila ng kampanya," said Robredo.

In his congratulatory tweet, Kim said: "We look forward to continuing to work together as #FriendsPartnersAllies to support Philippine government drug demand reduction efforts."

In response, Robredo, on Saturday, said: “Nagpapasalamat ako sa pagpahayag ni Ambassador Kim, hindi lang ‘yung congratulatory message pero the fact he said the US is looking forward to partnering with us.”
