Robredo condoles with relatives of John Gokongwei Jr.


Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday conveyed her condolences to the relatives of industrialist John Gokongwei Jr. who died Saturday night at the age of 93.

"Our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. John Gokongwei Jr. We will remember his many contributions not only to the business community, but to helping our fellow Filipinos in need," she wrote on Twitter.

 

 

Gokongwei was founder and chairman emeritus of JG Summit Holdings, Inc. He was also chairman of the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation, Inc., deputy chairman and director of United Industrial Corporation Limited, and director of Cebu Air, Inc., Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc. and Oriental Petroleum and Minerals Corporation.

He placed third on the 2019 Forbes Philippines Rich List with a net worth of $5.3 billion.

Lawmakers and members of the business community also mourned his passing on Sunday. —KG, GMA News
