GMA analyst Richard Heydarian’s take on Duterte’s SALN

President Rodrigo Duterte seems to be contradicting his own call for transparency and accountability from public officials by refusing to release his 2018 Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Networth (SALN) months after the deadline for its filing.

This was how GMA Network’s resident analyst Richard Heydarian viewed the issue about Duterte’s SALN that surfaced anew after the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) reported that the president’s 2018 SALN remains unfiled.

In a December 11 report, the PCIJ said Duterte has already missed the April 30 deadline by eight months, making this the first time in 30 years that a president has not released his or her SALN. 

“As much as it’s correct for the president to rail against the so-called oligarchs to fight against corruption, sana naman he starts also with himself about having more transparency about his own SALN,” Heydarian said.
