Sotto welcomes higher approval, trust ratings

Senate President Vicente Sotto III on Sunday welcomed the results of the latest Pulse Asia survey that showed he got higher trust and approval ratings this month.

Pollster Pulse Asia's nationwide survey conducted earlier this month shows Sotto's approval and trust ratings went up to 84% and 78%, respectively, from 72% and 66% in that order three months ago.

In a statement, Sotto said he always tries to be consistent with his work as Senate President without compromising hard work and transparency.

"I share this honor for the increase in approval and trust rating with my fellow senators who are as equally dedicated to the true essence of public service and have become a team though coming from diverse and sometimes competing positions," he said.

"We thank the entire nation for the appreciation of our work," he added.

The same survey results showed that President Rodrigo Duterte's approval and trust ratings went up to 87% and 83%, respectively, which are both 9% higher than his ratings in September.

Vice President Leni Robredo, meanwhile, got an approval rating of 58%, an 8% increase from September. Her trust rating also went up by 7% to 53% from September's 46%.

Sotto's counterpart in the House, Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano got the highest jump among the four top officials, with his approval rating going up 16% to 80%, and his trust rating going up 14% to 76%. —Erwin Colcol/LBG, GMA News
