Duterte celebrates Christmas eve with family

President Rodrigo Duterte celebrated Christmas eve with his family in Davao City, belting out a song as the other members wait for the clock to strike 12, according to a report by Dano Tincungco on 24 Oras Wednesday.

As he sang, former wife Elizabeth Zimmerman stood by his side to listen. Daughter Sara, the Davao  City mayor, also sang and even tried a rap song.

Davao Vice Mayor Sebastian "Baste" Duterte and the president's grandchildren were also present.

Sneak peaks of the president's bonding moment with his former wife and children  were also seen through Sara Duterte's Instagram account.

On Christmas Day, Duterte led the traditional giving of gift packs to the residents of Davao City.

The Christmas gift packs include canned goods, 2 kilos of rice, a meal from a fast food, gift certificate worth P300, and travel allowance.

In his Christmas message, Duterte encouraged the public to live by Christ's example.

"May we emulate Christ's empathy and kindness by opening our hearts and extending our hands to everyone, especially to those who are less fortunate, and sharing with them the bounty and blessings we have received in the past year," Duterte said. —Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
