Authorities nab Maguindanao massacre fugitive


Authorities on Monday arrested one of the at large suspects in the 2009 Maguindanao massacre in Barangay Kabinge, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao.

According to Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao chief Police Brigadier General Marni Marcos identified the arrested suspect as 42-year-old Faisal Dimaukom, alias Kagi Faizal.

Seized from the suspect was a fragmentation grenade.

Dimaukom was turned over to Parang Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and disposition.

With this latest arrest, 79 suspects in the Maguindanao Massacre case remained at large.

Last December, several members of the influential Ampatuan clan were found guilty for the murder of 57 people in the infamous massacre.

Among those convicted were former Datu Unsay Mayor Andal Ampatuan Jr., former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Governor Zaldy Ampatuan, Anwar Ampatuan Sr., Anwar "Ipi" Ampatuan Jr., and Anwar Sajid "Ulo" Ampatuan. — DVM, GMA News
