DOH monitoring 22 who came to Philippines from China


The Department of Health has identified 22 individuals who arrived in the country with colds, cough and fever after travelling from China amid the threat of the novel coronavirus.

DOH spokesman Undersecretary Eric Domingo said two of the 22 are under observartion. 

"Lahat naman kasi ng mga nagkakasakit, tinitignan namin. So far, we've seen...22 cases," Domingo said.

"Ito 'yung mga may history of travel to China and then came in with cough and colds, may fever and we are testing and were doing laboratory tests but so far talagang 'yung under investigation lang natin, 'yung dalawa," he added.

Domingo said there remained no confirmed case of the novel coronavirus in the Philippines.

He said the 22 individuals were only those who have come forward with their symptoms.   

"These people consulted us," Domingo said.

Domingo said a child in Cebu remained under investigation a male in Tacloban is being monitored after returning home from Wuhan, China.

Citing reports, Domingo said the man's close contacts have quarantined themselves at home.

"Yung mga close contacts are under home quarantine, self-isolation at home, but the patient himself is admitted in isolation at our health facility." —NB, GMA News
