PNP names new Central Visayas police chief

Philippine National Police chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa on Thursday designated Police Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferro as the new chief of the Police Regional Office VII.

Ferro, who was the National Capital Region Police Office's Deputy Regional Director for Operations, replaced Police Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon, who was relieved and reassigned to the Office of the PNP chief.

Meanwhile, Police Colonel Emma Libunao, the chief of the Bulacan police, and Police Colonel Gil Francis Tria, the deputy director for operations of the PNP-Highway Patrol Group, were also relieved and reassigned to Gamboa's office.

Gamboa's latest order of reshuffle is effective today, February 6.

According to Gamboa, the reassignment of police officials to key posts is based on evaluation of factors such as performance, campaign against illegal drugs and illegal gambling, fight against rogue cops and failure to adhere to command policies.

The PNP chief then reminded all regional directors of the police's stance against all forms of illegal gambling activities and other crimes against public morals. — BM, GMA News
